HomeArea GuideDripping Springs Top 5sTop 5 Outdoor Activities in Dripping Springs

We may be biased, but we believe that Texas Hill Country offers up the most beautiful landscape in the country. Home to 10 state parks and Enchanted Rock, one of the largest rock formations rumored to provide spiritual powers, there is something exciting and new to discover around every corner. Dripping Springs is considered the Gateway to Texas Hill Country, and as such, travelers from all over the world find themselves drawn to the beauty of the great outdoors, wanting to spend as much time as possible outside enjoying it! If your next vacation has you flying to our doorstep and staying in one of our I Love Dripping Springs vacation sanctuaries, you too will want to experience the beauty of our landscape. This guide to the top five outdoor Dripping Springs activities we offer will help give you and your family the vacation you have always dreamed about!

Hamilton Pool Park Trail, 24300 Hamilton Pool Road

A good hike is obviously the best way to get up close and personal with the natural side of Dripping Springs, but we aren’t talking about just any hike. The Hamilton Pool Park Trail is a moderately easy trail, nearly two miles in length and taking approximately 40 minutes round trip. Reservations are required, and there is a small fee, but the beauty of the countryside and the variety of birds that make their nests in this area will make it your favorite outdoor adventure. Weekday walks promise a little more solitude and dogs are not allowed.

Bell Springs Winery, 3700 Bell Springs Road

You may be asking how a winery could be considered an outdoor experience, but we do things differently here in Dripping Springs! Offering an indoor AND outdoor tasting room, the wines served at Bell Springs will soon become your newest obsession. Bring your pups and your favorite tiny travelers and enjoy a beautiful experience with great wine, great company, and on weekends, fantastic food from the food trucks that will be parked on the premises.

Dripping Springs Activities at XLR8 Ranch, 100 Plum Creek Lane

The days of the Old West aren’t that far behind us here in Texas. We keep the memories alive in a variety of ways, and although there won’t be any shootouts or saloons with rails for tying up your horses, you can hire a trail guide to take you horseback riding at XLR8 Ranch! The Ranch offers miles of trails that lead guests through the stunning countryside, and the horses they offer are both gentle and majestic, ensuring that these Dripping Springs outdoor activities will be a memorable one! Spring is the best time to experience a horseback ride, but this is a popular adventure during most every season.

Rock Climbing at Milton Reimer’s Ranch Park, 23610 Hamilton Pool Road

Milton Reimer’s Ranch Park is a popular place to explore and is open every day of the week from 7 AM to 8 PM, but one of the more unusual activities you can participate in during your visit is the opportunity for rock climbing! Offering nearly 300 climbing routes, with the highest route climbing 92 feet in the air, climbers of all skill levels will enjoy exploring the nooks, crannies, and crevasses of the limestone cliffs found here. Because it rains very little in this part of the world, nearly every day will be the best day to reach new heights of fun with these Dripping Springs outdoor activities, although it is most popular between November and February.

Dreamland, 2770 US-290

Although there was no order to these five activities we have shown you, you may believe that we really did save the best for last when you check out all that Dreamland has to offer for your Texas-sized outdoor adventures! This family friendly venue is a one stop spot for fun, providing pickleball courts, a disc golf course, AND a miniature golf course, as well as a splash pad for kiddos and various live music events that will show you that dreams really can come true with a visit to Dreamland. The grounds of this fantastic establishment are dotted with original art and stunning statues that enhance your entertainment experience, and an onsite restaurant will keep you fed and refreshed, no matter how long you stay. It offers pizzas, salads, and a small appetizer menu, plus canned beer, canned wine, and canned cocktails that taste wonderful in the warmer days of summer. (Non-alcoholic drinks are available for purchase too, ensuring the kids will have something to sip and savor as well!)
