When fall arrives in Dripping Springs, you can almost feel the excitement vibrating in residents and visitors. The weather cools, (although it can still be pretty warm in September) the humidity lessens, and the beauty of the Texas Hill Country landscape decked out in its most colorful fall “attire” takes our breath away, making this time of year a popular vacation time. There is always something to do in Dripping Springs, but in the fall, these activities take on new heights of wonderful, and we at I Love Dripping Springs have put together this guide to fall activities, ensuring that your Dripping Springs fall journey will be one you wish never had to end!
Drink a Lot of Beer This Dripping Springs Fall
Where the world was once seemingly devoted to wine drinkers, beer drinkers are finally having their time in the sun, and during your fall visit to Dripping Springs, there will be many opportunities to drink as much beer as you want! We have mentioned Foxtoberfest & Artisan Festival, a local event that takes place every October, and we hope that your stay with us will give you the opportunity to stop by 4700 Fitzhugh Road and drink your fill as well as explore aisles filled with locally created arts and crafts. Fitzhugh Brewing, located at 15435 Fitzhugh Road, also offers more opportunities to sample the sudsy stuff, and in the fall months, presents weekends that include football to go with your favorite beers. Saturdays are for college football and Sundays offer NFL games from open to close, ensuring that you may get to watch your favorite team win the big game—even if it isn’t a Texas team!
Go to the Pumpkin Patch
Pumpkins are the fruit of the season and travelers can still enjoy having one in their I Love Dripping Springs seasonal sanctuaries when they visit one of many pumpkin patches that are in the area! The Dripping Springs Pumpkin Festival may be the most fun way of picking a pumpkin, offering fall activities in Dripping Springs, games, music, food, and beverages in addition to providing the opportunity to pick out your favorite gourd, (and you can paint it here too) but there are other pumpkin patches you will enjoy as well. Hamilton Pool Vineyards and Dripping Springs Methodist Church feature pumpkin patches with which you and your family will fall in love.
Austin City Limits Music Festival
Generally held the first weekend in October, the Austin City Limits Music Festival often serves as our kickoff to the cooler days! Held in Zilker Metropolitan Park in Austin, this two-day festival features nine different stages with over 100 different performances, and as the sun sets, you will soon find that there is no better way to enjoy a fall night in Texas than by enjoying live music under the stars.
Head to the Market
Being outside as much as possible is our goal for every fall, and a variety of markets in the region allow us to do just that while picking up souvenirs, gifts, and even food to stock our fall escapes. The Hill Country Harvest Market, held in October at the Dripping Springs Ranch Park, will help you get a head start on your Christmas shopping, while a visit to the Dripping Springs Farmers Market, held on Wednesday mornings at Founders Memorial Park, will entice you to buy local veggies, home made baked goods, and more fall tchotchkes that you never knew you needed until you saw them displayed on the tables of the market. The city of Austin offers a variety of farmers markets open on different days, including Barton Creek Farmers Market (Saturdays), Austin Farmers Pop Up Market By John (Thursdays), and SFC Farmers Market at Sunset Valley (also open on Saturdays).
The Art Garage, 11190 Circle Drive in Austin
The best souvenirs can be the ones you make yourself when you visit the Art Garage in Austin! Offering a variety of walk-in classes that include painting pottery, making mosaics, and creating glass fusion, they offer seasonally based activities that will add charm to your home and provide a great way to make memories during your Texas getaway.
