Family Fun in Dripping Springs
There are no wrong ways to celebrate Independence Day in Dripping Springs, just many wonderful options! Get up early and take a hike on the Hamilton Pool Park Trail (reservations are required) drinking in the beauty of the Texas Hill Country landscape as you preemptively walk off any extra calories you will consume later in the day! It’s hot in Texas in July, so a stop at Almost Grown Play Café & Ice Cream Shop is located not far from the trail you just finished hiking (18901 Hamilton Pool Road) offering a chance for the kiddos to play and for everyone to enjoy a delicious lunch, followed by a sweet and frosty ice cream treat! You may want to skip the meal, however, and join in the fun in our next listed activity below!
It’s Picnic Time This 4th of July in Dripping Springs
Chances are you will work up quite an appetite during your hike and Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic will help sate your hunger! This fun Austin event has been a local tradition since 1972, offering good food, live entertainment, and, of course, ending with fireworks at the Q2 Stadium, 10414 Mc Kalla Place. Doors open at 1 pm, so travelers can sleep in late, enjoy an all-American pancake breakfast at home (perhaps topped with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream for a red, white, and blue start to your day!) and then gather the family in the car for a short road trip to Willie’s show. The performers are different every year, but the red-headed stranger has been the key attraction. Every year fireworks that light up the sky at the end of the show are destined to bring all the oohs and ahhs for a Dripping Springs 4th of July celebration!
Hill Country Galleria Independence Day Festival
Texas Hill Country is comprised of a series of towns, large and small, all offering the incredible landscape you are sure to fall in love with and small-town charms that will make you feel welcome. Nearby Bee Cave (named for a large swarm of Mexican Honeybees that took up residence in a local cave) offers its own 4th of July fun, at the Hill Country Galleria every year. Located at 12700 Hill Country Boulevard, the festival offers live music, great sales, and some backyard games that will be enjoyed by the entire family! Chow down on Texas cuisine, dance and sing along with the musical stylings of local performers, and, of course, once the sun sets, enjoy a fireworks extravaganza that will never fail to impress!
Austin Symphony HEB July 4th Concert & Fireworks
Another local tradition is the Austin Symphony HEB July 4th Concert & Fireworks held at Auditorium Shores and the Long Center. Enjoy a taste of culture as the Austin Symphony plays patriotic music that will bring a tear to your eye and when the sun sets, fix your eyes on the sky and the kaleidoscope of colors that will light up the night!
