Explore Historic Mercer Street This Winter in Dripping Springs

Those winter explorers who have a heart for history and associated architecture will find that time spent on historic Mercer Street is intriguing and informative! This area is the heart of the original Dripping Springs settlement and is also home to the natural spring for which the city was named! Take time to explore the shops and restaurants that are settled on this street and function within structures that have stood the test of time!

Many of these shops are the same as when they were first built between the late 1800s to the 1940s. See a gas station with original pumps, visit the old brick building that now houses Vintage Soul, and make sure you walk all the way to the west end to see the dripping springs, for which the city was named.

Stop in a Crepe Crazy

When you’re looking for a sweet or savory bite that would warm you up in the winter, head over to Crepe Crazy at 660 W. 290 Highway B and sink your teeth into crepes of all kinds served up in European-inspired tradition! Crepe Crazy is a family-friendly destination where you can pair ham and cheese crepes with Nutella topped sugary delights that are sure to please the palate. This stop also serves up salads and paninis when you’re in the mood for something a bit more robust this Dripping Springs winter. The Dr. Pound Historical Farmstead Museum

When people say, “Back in the old days,” this is what they’re talking about. The Dr. Pound Historical Farmstead Museum is the highlight of a five-acre expanse of oaks and Old West history. Dr. Pound’s family owned the farmstead just as it is for over 130 years. The original two log cabins still stand today and may have even been a stop on a wagon route. The farmstead stands as it was, with the only modernization being the addition of electricity.

Westcave Outdoor Center

This stunning nature preserve offers a guided tour of the grotto, where you hike through grasslands to a limestone crevice. Once you pass through, you travel down a staircase into an enclave with luxurious flora. Soon you arrive at the grotto, where the 40-foot waterfall cascades into the grotto pool below.

Note: You must have a staff member tour guide to visit the grotto, cave, and canyon, and visits are by reservation only.

Dripping Springs Sculpture Garden

This is a must-see for art lovers! This garden, located at 5300 Bell Springs Road, is an outdoor gallery dedicated to sculptures ranging from small to large to completely majestic.
