It may be hard to believe, but Memorial Day Weekend is just around the corner, which of course means summer is just about here and we are already halfway through the new year. We at I Love Dripping Springs can’t explain how time flies so quickly but we can invite you to explore the all-American delights found in our all-American home of Dripping Springs, also known as the “Gateway to Hill Country.” This guide to the top things to do in our hometown over the 2025 Dripping Springs Memorial Day Weekend will ensure that you don’t miss a single moment of the fun and excitement during your visit!

Spend Dripping Springs Memorial Day in Founders Memorial Park

Dripping Springs is a family oriented town, offering all manner of family-friendly adventures, and we can’t think of a better way to enjoy our family than by spending a day exploring all that Founders Memorial Park has to offer. Located at 419b Founders Park Road, your tiniest travelers will have a blast scrambling all over the various playscapes found throughout, and because a picnic in the park is a tradition we can all get behind, this park also offers picnic pavilions for your al fresco meal adventures. Also offering a variety of shaded picnic areas, the Katherine Cannon Walking Trail, sports courts, AND a skatepark, you really will be able to spend the entire day at the park. We haven’t mentioned temperatures yet, but even as Memorial Day is often considered the kick-off to summer, by the end of May we have already begun to experience the heat of the season, and as such, the Founders Memorial Pool that is a part of the park is expected to be the hot spot this Memorial Day Weekend!

Hiking Through the Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center, 24814 Hamilton Pool Road

The stunning verdant beauty of the Dripping Springs landscape is the star of the show at this 76-acre nature preserve, offering a beautiful look into the wild side of Texas. Reservations must be made to tour or hike the preserve, so if you are in the planning process of your Dripping Springs vacation right now, it may be a good time to make your reservations. Offering guided tours that take you through arid savannahs to waterfalls and grotto pools, there are also photography guided hikes offered as well as a guided forest bathing hike. The latter is based on a Japanese practice of “bathing in the forest atmosphere” but we can assure you, there is no actual bathing involved. Instead, it is more of a total immersion into the forest, feeling the air, hearing the birds cry, and seeing all the green that this part of Texas offers and when the hike is over you will feel relaxed, serene, and at peace with who you are.

Shopping the Memorial Day Sales

Shopping while on vacation is a time-honored tradition, and shopping while Memorial Day sales are going on is just the cherry on the top of a very delicious sundae! Historic Mercer Street is known for offering a large selection of shops, stores, and boutiques, many of which are located inside buildings that have been around for 100 years or more. Vintage Soul, located at 302 Mercer Street, is a boutique that appeals to those with a hippy soul, offering clothing, accessories, even home décor that will add a Texas tinge to your midwestern home style. Thrift shopping has become a popular activity for shoppers all over the world, and Haute Exchange offers a large selection of gently used designer clothing, shoes, accessories, and purses, ensuring a good time will be had by all bargain hunters. Starrs on Mercer, Revel Wilde, and the Juniper Tree Market are more shops you will kick yourself if you don’t visit!

Sip and Savor at Bell Springs Winery, 3700 Bell Springs Road

Up until this point we have had you running around town, hiking, exploring, and all sorts of energetic activities, but now it is time to sit back, savor some really excellent wine, and slow down the pace with a visit to Bell Springs Winery. Offering tastings, live music, and a menu filled with casual foods designed to perfectly complement the wines you are sipping, there really is no place else we would rather be on a lazy spring day in May. If you fall in love with a particular bottle, you don’t have to return to Dripping Springs every time you run low; you can just order online, as long as you don’t live outside the country or in a state that doesn’t permit alcohol delivery via mail.
