Of course you will want to spend some of your vacation minutes getting in a little last minute shopping and the festivals, shows, and shops of Dripping Springs will certainly have that little something you never knew you needed! Every year in early December, Christmas on Mercer offers a chance to shop ‘til you drop on a street decorated to look like a winter wonderland, but if you are here closer to Christmas Day, no worries. The decorations stay up through New Year’s, and the Christmas music piped into the stores as you shop will keep your festive spirit alive! Redbud Artisan Market often presents a holiday fair at Bell Springs Winery, allowing visitors to sip and shop (our favorite kind of shopping and relax this Christmas in dripping springs.

See the Nutcracker Live

It’s a holiday tradition in many families to see a live performance of The Nutcracker, one that can be happily continued during your Texas trip of a lifetime. Ballet Austin performs this classic piece every year, and we can tell you that no matter how many times we see it, we find something different to love at each viewing. Located at 501 West 3rd Street and playing every weekend from December 3rd to the 23rd, (On Christmas week there will be performances on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with the final show being performed on Friday, December 23rd.) the magic of the classic tale will speak to your heart!

Austin Adventures

Being this close to the big city of Austin ensures you will have plenty of opportunities to expand your Christmas activities! The Austin Trail of Lights in Zilker Park has been a holiday tradition for 58 years offering an amazing Christmas wonderland with over two million lights, 90 holiday trees, and a variety of other displays that will take your breath away! After a brief hiatus, the Trail of Lights has come back to Zilker Park and will be open every evening except Mondays from December 8 through December 23rd. Enjoy a Christmas Tomahawk Ribeye at Red Ash Italia, located at 303 Colorado Street or fall in love with the wines and cheese plates offered at House Wine, 408 Josephine Street. House Wine is located inside an unpretentious Austin cottage that was built in 1940 and features a colorful patio as well as a welcoming dining room. Haven’t finished your shopping yet? The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar held at the Palmer Events Center is destined to have treasures you won’t be able to pass up! This bazaar is simply amazing offering aisle after aisle of Christmas gifts, décor, and art work and is generally held the week before Christmas.
