HomeDripping Springs Top 5sTop 5 Spring Things to Do in Dripping Springs

Oh, how we love the spring in Dripping Springs. Maybe it is because you can’t have Dripping Springs without the word spring, maybe it’s the promise of the season that makes the landscape look particularly magical, or maybe it is the softness of the weather, not too hot, not too cold, that makes us light up when it is springtime in Texas again, but for whatever reason, it is our favorite time of the year. The beauty of the season makes it an ideal time to visit and if you have a spring getaway to Dripping Springs on your calendar (and a stay in our I Love Dripping Springs vacation havens, of course!) this guide to the top five spring things to do will ensure that you fill your vacation minutes with the best of what our Texas Hill Country town has to offer with these Dripping Springs Activities!

Go Outside and Play With These Dripping Springs Activities

The temps run into the 80s and the humidity will be low, making it seem as if Mother Nature is ordering you to go outside and play, much as your mother did on a nice day years ago! Hiking is a popular spring activity and you can stay close to home with a hike on the trails by Hamilton Pool Preserve or you can take the walk on the road with a drive to the Westcave Outdoor Discovery Center in nearby Round Mountain (reservations are required and can be booked here) for a peek at what some of the surrounding towns have to offer!

Founder’s Day Festival, Last Weekend in April

We sure are proud of our historic town, and the Founder’s Day Festival, held the last weekend in April, shows off our pride in a big way! Starting off with a parade (aren’t small town parades just about the most charming thing you have ever seen?) followed by live entertainment, food, drinks, street dancing, and our favorite part, cooking competitions where we get to be the judges! Vendors selling arts, crafts, and all the stuff you never knew you couldn’t live without until you held them in your hands will ensure that you fill up the empty spaces in your suitcase quite nicely!

Shopping Expeditions

You may not have thought about it much before, but the most successful vacations revolve around the food and the shopping and historic Mercer Street is definitely going to be the site of some of your most satisfying purchases! Offering a variety or shops and boutiques at which you can purchase souvenirs, home goods, clothing, art, and so much more, you just need someone to drop you off at one end and start walking in and out of the stores until you reach the other end of Mercer Street. Vintage Soul, Juniper Tree Market, and Starrs on Mercer are just a few of the exciting options you will find on this beautiful and historic street.

Sip and Savor

Dripping Springs is giving the rest of the world some stiff competition in the wine arena and our wineries may end up being your favorite part of your seasonal adventures. Sitting outside under the sunny skies, sipping chardonnays, cabernets, and all the other wines that make us happy during these Dripping Springs spring activities, feeling the breezes keeping us from feeling too warm and mowing down on charcuterie boards and tacos (depending on which winery you visit!) will ensure that this spring is destined to be one you remember forever. The patio at Sidecar Tasting Room is one of our favorites, but all the wineries rank high on our love-meters!

Road Trip to Austin

Dripping Springs is a small town that offers all the excitement and adventures found in a larger metropolitan city due to its proximity to Austin, our state capital. Spring is just as beautiful in Austin as it is in Dripping Springs, and as you visit the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and witness the beauty of bluebonnets (and other wild flowers) in full bloom, chances are you will wish you never had to go home again! Enjoy a quirky yet delicious meal at the Launderette (we’re betting you can guess how it got its name!) located at 2115 Holly Street, and then head back out for a walking tour of the murals that grace many of the Austin businesses. Offering exciting photo opportunities, guests can pose for selfies in front of the Greetings from Austin mural painted on the front of a local gallery or just stand in awe as you examine the talented works created by local artists all around the city of Austin!
